How to use a butter bell

• Soften your butter to room temperature, then pack it firmly into the bell with no air pockets.
• Fill the base with about one-quarter to one-third of a cup of cold water - you need just enough so that the water touches the lip of the bell when you've put it in. This creates the airtight seal around your butter.
• Place the lid upside down into the base. Store it in a cool, shady spot - away from direct sunlight and not near any hot appliances.
• Change the water every 2 to 3 days to make sure it stays fresh and clean.
