The Calypso Rattan Armchair creates an inviting place to pause while bringing the warmth and character of natural materials into your home. Handcrafted from antique grey rattan, it features a gently shaped high back, curved arms and detailed woven construction. The soft grey-brown tones are complemented by a cream cotton seat cushion, creating a relaxed and comfortable chair with an elegant, established appearance.

Place the Calypso in a living room, bedroom retreat, sunroom or reading corner to create a welcoming spot for quiet moments. It can also be enjoyed on a covered verandah or protected outdoor entertaining area, provided it remains sheltered from direct weather. Its natural palette works easily with cream upholstery, linen textiles, ceramics and wooden furniture, making it a lovely choice for French Provincial, country and relaxed coastal interiors. Pair it with a small rattan table to keep a book, lamp or morning coffee within easy reach.

Stackable rattan armchair

The chair is woven by hand from naturally aged kubu rattan, allowing subtle variations in colour and texture to become part of its individual character. Its included seat cushion has a natural cotton cover with a zipper, allowing the cover to be removed for easier care. The practical stackable design also makes the chair convenient when several are used together and need to be stored more compactly. Keep the rattan protected from rain and prolonged direct sunlight, brush dust from the weave regularly and wipe it gently with a damp cloth when required. Combining traditional craftsmanship with everyday comfort, the Calypso adds relaxed character wherever an occasional chair is needed.

Delivery

This rattan armchair is shipped from our Peakhurst NSW warehouse.

If your item is in stock, please allow approximately 3–7 business days for despatch. Furniture is sent with a specialist furniture carrier and delivery is generally expected within approximately 1–5 business days after despatch, depending on your location and carrier availability.

If your item is on backorder, please refer to the expected despatch timeframe shown above. This is our best estimate based on the latest information from our supplier, but dates can occasionally change due to production or international shipping delays. Placing your order will reserve your item from the incoming stock and we’ll let you know if there are any significant changes to the expected arrival date.

Prefer to collect? You’re very welcome to collect your order from our Peakhurst NSW warehouse. We’ll send you an SMS as soon as your item is ready for collection.

Furniture Delivery & Freight

Because furniture is bulky, delivery is arranged with specialist independent furniture carriers rather than our standard parcel couriers. Freight charges vary according to the size of the item and your delivery location.

Our website will calculate a freight charge at checkout and this will be correct in most cases. However, furniture freight is individually quoted by our carriers and the online calculator can occasionally be inaccurate, particularly for some rural or regional locations.

If the actual freight cost is significantly different from the amount calculated at checkout, we’ll contact you before arranging delivery to advise you of the correct freight charge.

Furniture deliveries are to the front door only. Carrier pricing does not include taking furniture inside your home, positioning it or unpacking it.

If you’d prefer to confirm the freight charge before ordering, you’re very welcome to contact us for a shipping quote.

Shop with Confidence

We believe you should receive exactly what you expect. Every product is photographed by our team to accurately represent its colour, texture and details, and measurements are checked and listed to help you choose with confidence.

If you have any questions about this item, its dimensions or delivery, please contact our friendly team on 02 9146 4720 or [email protected] and we’ll be delighted to help.

Packaging

Your rattan chair will be carefully packed and prepared for transport to help ensure it reaches you safely and in perfect condition.

Returns

We understand that sometimes an item just isn’t right for you. We have a 14-day no questions asked returns policy. For change-of-mind returns, we’ll provide a refund for the item once it has been returned to us in as-new, saleable condition.

Please keep in mind that return freight for furniture can be considerably more expensive than standard parcel freight due to its size. See our full returns policy.

Faulty or Damaged Items

It’s rare, but if your item arrives faulty or damaged, please take photos or a video clearly showing the problem and send them to [email protected] within 7 days of delivery.

We’ll review the issue and help arrange the appropriate next steps as quickly as possible. See our full replacement and refunds policy.

About Rattan

Rattan is a beautiful material for making furniture that naturally grows in very long canes perfect for weaving. To create a basket, the canes are cut down and then the long bundles are soaked in water for a few weeks to produce this lovely aged, warm grey colour known locally as 'kubu'. It is a very strong material that is perfect for making lightweight yet very sturdy pieces.

Rattan Care

As a natural material, rattan is sensitive to its environment and a little bit of care and attention will keep it at its best.
Keep your rattan out of direct sunlight and do not keep it where it can get wet from rain. The sun can cause the colour of the rattan to change and it can also cause it to dry and split.
Brush your rattan on a regular basis to remove dust and prevent the growth of mildew. If you live in a humid climate, make sure to do this more often. Using a brush allows you to get into the gaps in the weaving to keep the item free of dust and dirt.
To clean the rattan, simply wipe it down with a damp (not wet) cloth dipped in a solution of warm water and mild dish soap. Do not over wet the rattan and do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives. Make sure it can dry quickly.
If something is spilled on it, clean it straight away. Colours from the spill can be absorbed into the natural material so don't leave it.
As a handwoven item, if you notice any rattan canes or poles that have become unwoven, simply slip them back into their original position by hand.
Woven rattan is a strong material and is built to last - but like all handmade pieces, it has limits. Avoid overloading with excessive weight to maintain its form, beauty and structural integrity.

Some variations in the canes used in the weaving are to be expected as it is a natural material. These are not considered imperfections but are inherent to the character of a natural handwoven product.
